In and around Colmar
Activities galore right by the hotel
Our hotel at the heart of Alsace is the ideal place for enjoying the many activities on offer in and around Colmar.
In Colmar itself, you can see the old town by horse-drawn carriage (ride approx. 30 mins) or by tourist train (immersive route through the heart of Colmar approx. 35 mins, departure on Rue Kleber by the Musée Unterlinden). You can also explore Petite Venise aboard a flat-bottomed boat, passing the timber-framed houses and enjoying the serenity of this market gardeners’ neighbourhood with abundant vegetation (departure below the Pont Saint-Pierre). As the wine capital of Alsace, a trip to Colmar isn’t complete without a tasting session at the heart of the wine estates and cellars located in the town or just outside.
In summer, the Colmar-Houssen aquatics centre has a 380 m beach of fine sand and spaces specially designed for leisure purposes.
In winter, Colmar’s squares are lit up in an intimate, friendly manner, playing host to the traditional Christmas markets, full of sparkling Christmas ornaments, table pieces and original presents, and with the delicious aromas of cinnamon and other spices wafting through the air.
Whether by bike, motorbike or car, the Alsace Wine Route at the foot of the Vosges mountains can be enjoyed in many ways. By bike, the bike routes and “Voies Vertes” (multi-use car-free paths) will allow you to explore Colmar and the neighbouring wine-growing areas.
There are plenty of sports and activities for young and old alike in this region. Nearby our hotel in Ciomar, you’ll be able to head to Kintzheim and discover the Volerie des Aigles (eagle sanctuary) and the Montagne des Singes (monkey park), visit the Cigoland Theme Park and Stork Sanctuary, or follow in the footsteps of pilot and author Saint Exupéry in Ungersheim at the Parc du Petit Prince (The Little Prince Park). Or just across the border (43 km away), you can visit Europa Park, Germany’s largest theme park.
